Tips and Trends

Now its time to get down to the nitty gritty, those little details that make a huge difference, the hairs that protect our eyes- EYELASHES!

While they are small, they make a HUGE difference on our appearance!

Yes, we are talking about EYELASH EXTENSIONS for your wedding day, honeymoon, or just your everyday  love life! I had always been afraid of lash extensions because of the horror stories I have heard. That was until I met Cynthia, she is such a sweetheart. When she first contact me to tell us about lashes for our clients I have to admit I was skeptical. She convinced me to give them try, I went to her cute spa room and really enjoyed the next 2 hours… as she individually glued an extension lash to each of my lashes… I chatted for a bit, took a nap, organized life in my head, and had some peaceful moments of reflection… at the end I had about 60 lash extensions on each lid. She was so patient and caring with each and every move she made.

STYLE MY LASHES

(I will now recommend her to everyone who is looking for lash extensions).

We have already had one of our brides go to her and she also had an incredible experience and loved her lashes for her big day! It’s a natural glam look!

Here is my before and after :) (yes I am showing you my face without makeup, eeekkkk…).

I got the Hollywood Glam look (60 lashes) and it still looked natural and beautiful!! Thanks Cynthia! Now I can say from personal experience that I would recommend Cynthia for lash extensions, she is FABULOUS!!!!

We recently shared our styling tips on Estate Weddings and Events blog (as Krystel is their new guest blogger! ) But just in case you missed our 2012 styling tips, we thought we would share them with you on our blog too!

Couture’s Top Five Wedding Styling Tips for 2012

1. Bohemian is Beautiful

Kate Moss proved this with her gorgeous bohemian styled wedding attire. She has set the trend for 2012 as we see many of our brides asking for light, soft, and airy accents along with sheer, barely there fabrics and delicate details. Some of our favorite elements from Kate’s wedding are her Juliet cap veil and the white flower garland headpieces on the bridal party, so boho chic.

2. Muted Colors are IN!

Nudes and blushes for everything including wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, florals, and makeup. Yes, you heard us, this year we are seeing more colored wedding gowns in muted tones. We are also seeing many brides choosing muted bridesmaid dresses, a nude wedding lip, and going with soft blush and cream florals.

*Tip: If you decide on a muted color gown, DO NOT choose muted or nude bridesmaid dresses as this will only wash everyone out. Remember you want to stand out on your special day, no matter if it is white or a beautiful blush.

3. Lighting is Everything

Lighting is the single best way to transform any venue from ordinary to extraordinary! In 2012 creative lighting will take precedence in the wedding decorand budget. We will be seeing more chandeliers, up-lighting, gobos, market lights, and candles, all of which help create an incredible ambiance for your guests to enjoy.

4. Glam is Back

While we have had so much fun with the rustic styling, we see that Glam is coming back and we couldn’t be more excited.  Whether iconic black & white, gold and silver accents, or just the sparkle (crystals, rhinestones, glitter, and shimmer), we are seeing many brides bring some bling into their wedding. Every detail is becoming more glamorous in both vintage and modern wedding themes, brides are embracing the GLAM look.

5. Long Banquet Tables are Luxurious

We will be seeing many long rectangle tables with pretty runners and assorted sized centerpieces. Round is out, brides no longer want just one centerpiece, they want assortments of bottles, vases, candles, and florals at all different heights to entertain the eye and bring dimension to the tables. They also like the idea of family style banquet tables, creating a more intimate feel.

The table decor is just as important as the food. Long before the appetizers are served, your table will make the first impression.

We decorated the beautiful holiday table in rich shades of red and gold. On the table, we placed three gorgeous centerpieces created by Organic Elements consisting of burgundy dahlias, roses, gold enameled succulents, and iridescent ornaments. Also on the dressing the table were gold chargers, gold rimmed plates, napkins, flatware, and an assortment of glasses from Raphaels. We then placed pine, pine cones, and candlesticks strategically around the centerpieces.  The table, benches, sofas, and chairs came from one of our preferred furniture rental companies, Lounge Appeal. We placed a name card at each setting to welcome the guests to their chair, these were created by Paper Scissors Print. To top it all off we wanted to add some sparkle (*our favorite and final touch*). We did this with gold glitter, gold leaves, sparkled candles, and red sequins. We sprinkled them around to add a modern twist and shimmer to the table.

Couture Tip:

Always add a special surprise for the guests, something they would not expect. In this case it was the sparkle! Think about how you could add some special touches to your holiday table! Head to your local craft store and get creative. DIY details are the best way to add a personal touch. XO- Couture Events

One of my favorite trends for 2012 is the comeback of the Victorian style bridal gown.  This sophisticated style is making its way back onto the runway this upcoming Spring with designers such as Vera Wang, Kenneth Pool, and Pronovias Collection, and there is no sign of slowing down as we approach 2012.  A modern twist on a vintage fashion, I love the revival of intricate designs, lace details, and flowing fabrics mixed with a modern flair of high collars, ruffles, delicate sleeves, and layers upon layers of graceful fabrics.  The unique combination of romance and modesty make an all together perfect and elegant design.  I accredit part of this current influence to Kate Middleton’s feminine and traditionally inspired gown by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.  To say the least, I am pleasantly excited to see Victorian style reemerge into the chic trend of the modern bride.

Veils are an accessory most brides don’t want to forget and thanks to the growing creative market in weddings, there are so many options to complement the personality of each unique bride.

Birdcage veils and headbands are trending in the wedding scene, especially for the younger bride who doesn’t want something too traditional. These veils are perfect for any type of wedding (whimsical, modern, vintage, glam you name it) and are very practical for transitioning from ceremony to reception.

Headbands or flowers are an easy and beautiful accessory on any bride and can used for bridesmaids as well.

Here are some examples from some of my personal favorite wedding accessory designers.
