Rosario & Wesley’s Wedding:: La Valencia

by krystel on March 21, 2011

Planning Rosy and Wes’s Wedding was such a blessing.  Not only did I get to coordinate their gorgeous wedding but I also gained some amazing friends.

The wedding theme was inspired by Rosario’s engagement ring. It’s a  “fancy yellow” or canary diamond to be more specific surrounded by white diamonds evoking the antique vintage feel. After talking about how much she loved the ring in our initial consultation and how it reflected her style and personality, I knew we would use their rings as the inspiration for their wedding!

Colors: Yellow and White

Style: Classic, Vintage, Elegant, and Romantic

Rosario and Wesley were married at All Hallows Catholic Church in La Jolla, CA.  Their reception was at the La Valencia in La Jolla. Every detail revealed the couples style and personality. The favors were coconut macaroons (the groom’s favorite dessert) wrapped in a white box with a yellow satin bow. The centerpieces were made up of the brides favorite flowers: daffodils, tulips, and roses. A mariachi band played during cocktail hour reflecting Rosario’s Hispanic heritage. Rosario wore a stunning wedding dress: ELIANA by Amsale.  It was a silk-faced satin gown with a full A-line skirt adorned with intricate floral embroidery (one of the most beautiful gowns I have ever seen). To top it all off they picked white dove cake toppers to represent love, loyalty, fidelity and honesty. The entire day was completely stunning and the perfect reflection of Rosario and Wesley, classy and elegant!

We love it when the friends of the bride & groom really express themselves during the reception. It results in some very touching & sometimes hilarious narrative… bringing the final video alive with personality and character. Wes and Rosy had a beautiful wedding at La Valencia in La Jolla, CA and their not so shy friends brought a lot of love and a lot of laughter to the evening.

French Château by Couture Events

by krystel on March 17, 2011

We had the opportunity to create this tabletop for Exquisite Weddings Magazine!

Welcome to our French château, inspired by Marie Antoinette and the splendor of Versailles. We chose a color palette of pinks, creams, and gold to create this whimsical, regal table. Romantic candlelight, glistening crystal candelabras and scrolled paper menus, in elaborate script, pay tribute to an elegant era gone by. The final touch: a “Let Them Eat Cake Lounge”— including decadent desserts such as French macaroons, chocolate-covered apples, and a delectable cake adorned in gold.

We brought in Erica from Acres of Hope Photography to get a few extra shots of the table top and Karina and I. She is an incredible photography and she captured some amazing details and moments for us! Enjoy!

Vendor Love:: Be Beauty

by krystel on March 8, 2011

Just across the street and up the hill from our office in Little Italy sits a little cottage filled with oh-so-many pretty little things. Take one step into Be Beauty and you will find yourself amidst a world of feminine fun. A charming boutique filled with clothing, shoes, and jewelry. Even better, a beauty bar offering an array of services—from brows to makeup to nails. Our favorite part about this adorable shop, however, is its specialty in bridal soirees. With such a friendly and talented staff of women, you will enjoy a truly stress-free start to your special day.

621 Fir Street
San Diego, CA 92101

Phone: 619-795-4585
Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat: 10am – 6pm
Wednesday: Closed
Sunday: Closed

We had a chance to ask the owners a few questions and we got some amazing answers! Enjoy!

Couture Events: 1. What makes you different from other boutiques?

Be Beauty: Well it’s a completely different concept. We’re a beauty boutique—so we do waxing, nails, facials—everything but hair. We have a few special places up the street we will refer brides to for hair…one of which did my up-do for my own wedding day.

Couture Events: 2. It’s such an unusual and fabulous idea to combine both fashion and beauty into one shop. Talk to us about your boutique.

Be Beauty: We love the idea of helping out our local economy and supporting local artists and vendors. We use all California companies for our clothing. Specifically we specialize in dresses, but we also offer separate pieces and have a gorgeous Brazillian-based bathing suit line that is great for this time of year.

Couture Events: 3. Do you get to hear any silly or fun stories from the brides?

Be Beauty: All the time. We’re a home away from home for a lot of brides. Many come to us up to a year in advance of their wedding to get prepped. Anything from skin work to waxing. Because we see them so often, we get to develop great relationships. We’ve had brides use us for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, wedding preparation—anything you can imagine.

Couture Events: 4. What are your favorite trends for this spring? Both in fashion and in beauty.

Be Beauty: We’re all very excited about the wide legged trouser this spring, as well as the array of fun bright colors that are great for accessories and makeup. Bright eye shadows can be a great way to liven up your look. And I know I personally am excited about this spring’s platform heels. At 5’3 I’ll take all the help I can get!

Couture Events: 5. We love that you get to work with brides on their big day. Will members of your beauty staff travel to their houses by request?

Be Beauty: Absolutely. We have a flat travel fee of $100 for brides in the San Diego area.

We absolutely adore this little shop and we know you will too! For your wedding or just a day out with the girls! YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT! Go check out Be Beauty today! :)

Coco Chanel Wedding Inspiration

by krystel on March 7, 2011

Dripping in Diamonds and Pearls! Couture Events creates designer weddings that are a  unique reflection of the couple.

This glamorous shoot was inspired by the iconic Coco Chanel-

“ A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous”

We wanted to bring in the classic elements of Chanel in the fabulous setting of the rooftop of the Andaz San Diego. The perfect blend of vintage modern with stunning adornments.

Every detail was created to reflect the simplistic elegance of Chanel. From the fabulous menus by Noon Designs to the gorgeous floral arrangements by Exquisite Blooms. We chose a palette of black and white with subtle accents of pretty posh pink.

Creativity is a must on your wedding day and this whimsical blend of classic and fabulous takes a wedding day to new heights!

Fashion and styling is one of the most important elements of your wedding day. We created the perfect Coco look with the help of some of our favorite fabulous vendors: make up by Brides by Brittany, hair by Beka Salazar at Say Lula Salon , and gowns from Bliss Bride.

All of the jewelry is from Couture Boutique in Little Italy: We carry locally handcrafted jewelry for brides and bridesmaids. We want each bride to be able to have an intimate & exquisite experience at Couture Boutique. We provide a time and place for the bride to come in, put on her dress and try on our assortment of jewelry to find the perfect accenting pieces for her dress. The bride can also pick out the perfect jewelry for her bridal party while at the boutique!

A huge THANK YOU to Rachael at the Andaz San Diego!

The Andaz is the perfect venue for a classy, chic, & contemporary wedding!

♥ Ceremony ♥

In the words of the bride: “Our ceremony was held in the pristine and almost angelic Crystal Ballroom.  We did not want to disturb the beautiful décor by overwhelming it with floral arrangements.  For months, Brad and I worked diligently on making sure that every detail came through to exemplify both of our personalities.  We thought it would be a great idea to frame the returned rsvp cards and have that as one of our focal points when guests walked through.  We filled tall glass cylinders with wine corks that we had collected along with tall ivory pillar candles.  The look of the candles and wine corks reminded  me of something you would see in a small church in Italy.  We came up with this unique idea of giving decorative cherub angels an antique finish then submerging them in a vase filled with water.  The look was simply romantic as they both were topped with halos made of twigs along with gold and ivory candles floating atop.  Adding clear and amber frosted votives only made the room more exquisite. At the end of the ceremony we had a sword arch. Brad is an Officer in the Marine Corps and we wanted to make sure to bring in a traditional military element. Everything turned out perfectly thanks to Krystel Tien of Couture Events and her team.”

♥ Reception ♥

In the words of the bride: “Our reception was held in the grand Celestial Ballroom.  We absolutely fell in love with the vibe of this room for the strong history and presence of music of what once was a speakeasy.  Since we both love music, we decided to use this idea for our escort and table cards.  We both picked our favorite bands and enlisted the help of the talented Nichole Rocero of Nic.Roc.Designs.  We collaborated on the idea of making escort cards that looked liked concert tickets with the band name and logo.  We loved that she was able to drop in the “chandelier” look that The US Grant uses in the background.  We also took our table cards to the next level by naming each table a different band name with the actual record logo.  She was able to incorporate the rich colors of blue and purple along with decorative Swarovski crystals.  The amazing duo, Brittany and Alex of Blush Botanicals were able to capture the glamour of the ballroom with simply stated florals.  They used magnificent sandblasted Manzanita branches with touches of peacock feathers and Swarovski dangling crystals.  The room absolutely gleamed with the combination of blue and purple uplighting along with the soft light from our decorative frosted votives.  The room was only a perfect backdrop for a night of love, fun and laughter!”
