Love is Sweeter than Honey

With spring and summer comes all things cheerful, charming, and warm. This BEEautiful bridal shower was inspired by the sweetest of them all: milk & honey! Couture Events partnered with SheWanders Photography to create this gorgeous inspiration. With close attention to detail, amazing vendor collaboration, and incredible creativity our delightful vision quickly came to life. Both the beautiful Queen Bee (bride) and her darling honeybees (bridesmaids) will surely adore this sweet theme, perfect for a spring or summertime affair.

Our bride was showered with love inside the rustic wooden garden house of our Little Italy neighbor and beloved wedding vendor, Be Beauty. The girls enjoyed tall glasses of fresh, cool milk and frequented the table of treats stacked high with our three favorite C’s: cake pops, cupcakes, and cookies. The center of the room was adorned with everything honey: perfect yellow linens, delicate bumble bee plates, white vases wrapped in yellow ribbon, and petite wooden beehives hidden throughout beautiful bright yellow florals… each detail more enchanting than the next.

So, come step inside our sunny afternoon affair and get inspired! There’s plenty of wedding bliss to go around!

Gorgeous is the only word for this beach wedding.

Gorgeous couple, stunning setting, and delicious details!

Christine and Ryan got married on the beautiful island of Oahu. “We chose a destination wedding because everyone told us that the day would go by in a flash and we really wanted to make the most of it and be able to spend quality time with the people that are dearest to us. It helped our families to bond and allowed all of our friends to go on a trip together that we wouldn’t have been able to orchestrate otherwise.“~ Christine, Bride.

It was a toes-in-the-sand, beach ceremony at Turtle Bay. The crystal blue water background could not have been more picture perfect. “The best part of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing Ryan’s face for the first time. His tears were so sweet and made all my nervous butterflies go away!” ~ Christine.

The reception was simple elegance. “I wanted the focus to be on the beautiful surroundings and just be punctuated by our details. My favorite details at the reception were the cobalt bottles we found at Pier One combined with the starfish. It was a simple, yet eclectic vibe.” ~ Christine.

We decided to do DIY floral centerpieces. Christine wanted all white florals to compliment the cobalt blue bridesmaids dresses, which were very fresh and clean. We ordered the flowers a month before and picked them up the morning of the wedding and arranged them in the cobalt bottles. We also made all the bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, and mothers bouquets out of white orchids and hydrangea that were finished with white ribbon.  Christine’s bouquet was made by a local florist with white hydrangea and white calla lilies, stunning!

For escort cards they wrote each guest’s name on a sand dollar in cobalt blue. They also had a white dessert bar including chocolate and carrot cake, white frosted cupcakes, cake, powdered sugar cookies, mini cannolis, cappuccino creme filled profiterole, and tiramisu.

Couture Events partnered with Joielala Photography to create the concept of the Fiesta Inspiration Shoot. We wanted to create something bright, colorful, and beautiful. We themed the shoot for destination weddings with latina flair.

While planning for the shoot I took a cruise on to the Mexican Rivera and I was completely inspired by everything around me- the style, culture, and colors of Mexico.  While I was there, we found the papel picado, the multi colored paper banners. I also bought the paper flowers hand made by a street vendor in Maziltlan just for the shoot and then asked Paula of Rae Flore to put them together with live flowers to create a beautiful bouquet. She then wrapped them in multi colored ribbon to make it into the perfect “fiesta bouquet”.

In Acapulco I spent about 20 minutes debating over colors and stitching for the perfect Mexican blanket for this shoot. I finally picked this one because it had so many bright colors that popped so brightly.

The location for the shoot was the El Fandango restaurant in Old Town, San Diego. Old town was the ideal setting for this shoot as it filled to the brim with old Hispanic culture. The El Fandango is the perfect space for a rehearsal dinner or wedding reception. They also have a beautiful private outside patio for smaller, more intimate events.

The invites were made by Nichole at Nic. Roc. Designs. She used a color palate of orange, purple, and green. Each fabric wrapped card was sewn to create the perfect backdrop for the creative design.

DIY Creative Favors/ Escort Cards: Colorful Cacti Favors. We bought the cactus at a local nursery. They were placed in little terra cotta clay pots to create fun and personal favor and place cards.  Guests names were written on one side of the pot and “ Maria ♥ Jorge “ on the other side. They made the perfect fiesta memoir for the guests to take home.
